Riversmith is a proud sponsor of the 25 On The Fly Fishing Tournament being held in Colorado this weekend. In addition to donating two River Quiver 4Bangers for the two winners, we’re stoked to announce that Team Riversmith – Rick Mikesell & AJ McGuire – will be competing in the event as well.
About the 25 On the Fly Event presented by Orvis
This event is one part fly fishing scavenger hunt, one part tournament and will challenge and a challenging two days of fly fishing.
The mission: to pursue 25 eligible fish species with fly tackle only. Along the journey, teams will use smartphones to film and log each fish species, while also attempting to find hidden prizes and complete team challenges. Most importantly the goal is to challenge yourself and open your eyes to new locations and fish to target with your fly rod. The Mile High 25 On the Fly is welcoming of all skill levels and prizes will be awarded to the top 3 teams, as well as the winners of the Team Challenge categories.

Rick Mikesell
Rick Mikesell is a Denver, CO native, and while growing up in trout country, he’s focused his fishing career on other under-the-radar warm water opportunities of Colorado and beyond. Prior to working at Riversmith, he was the Operations Manager of a Colorado based fly shop and outfitter. In addition to managing the fly fishing retail business, Mikesell is also a guide has taught warm water fly fishing schools and is a regular speaker on topics for fishing clubs and fly fishing events. He’s also a Board Member of Denver Trout Unlimited.
“I’ve always enjoyed helping anglers maximize their time on the water and working with fly shops across the country is right in my wheelhouse," said Mikesell. "When I’m not working, I love exploring and fishing all Colorado has to offer with my beautiful Wife and 3 awesome kids!”

AJ McGuire
As the owner of Dead Drift Tatoo, AJ has been working hard since 2015 to make Dead Drift a great place to work, get tattooed and connect with other tattoo enthusiasts. When he's not at the shop, you can probably find him enjoying time with his wife and daughter or fly fishing and backpacking in the mountains.
AJ is known for his unique, illustrative traditional style. He enjoys tattooing plants, flowers, animals and especially fly fishing related designs, all of which are custom made for each client. Typically, AJ is booked out a few months in advance, but occasionally has a spot or two open up last minute.
