Mount Assembly and Installation
The Quick release mounts are the easiest way to go!
I plan on taking my 4 Bangers off for the winter, so this set up was the way to go for me.
I had a tree fall on my car a few months back and the Riverquiver absorbed essentially *all* of the damage, which was awesome. Unfortunately the standard mounts did not survive and needed to be replaced. I thought, “this is a great opportunity to upgrade to the “quick release” mounts. The quality of the product seems high but I find them to be immensely more complicated and consequently actually take me significantly longer to fit to the vehicle. Jockeying between the tilt adjustment screw, the tension on the strap etc. is frustrating.
Honestly, I’d prefer if I had just purchased standard mounts to replace my originals.
These mounts are the perfect solution that lets me have my iKamper tent mounted on top of my truck bed towers and my Shortcut mounted underneath. No more having to choose between my tent or fly rods.
I take my 4 banger off the truck every trip, so I end up putting it on solo ~40 times a season. I've got the process down to a simple no-hassle few minute exercise to get it installed. The secret is to LOOSEN the straps a ton before you take it off the vehicle. This way when you mount it again, the straps lock and connect easily without any hassle. Then I use a drill w/bit to quickly tighten the straps and a ratchet w/bit to finish the tightening. For a while I was leaving the straps tightened and it was a total PIA to install the thing.
