Got this bag to replace my Patagonia rod travel bag mainly due to its larger capacity. That certainly didn’t disappoint! Easily held two 8wts and a 9wt plus 4 reels, extra spools and misc gear and some clothing. Zippered compartments on the lid are great for soft gear/clothing and the zipper cover on the rod compartment keeps items from getting tossed about. Would easily give this bag 5 stars except for the design of the clip that attaches the backpack strap to the lower attachment point. The clip has a spring loaded gate that is very strong and not very large making difficult to depress the gate. The clip also has a notch that is great for keeping the lower attachment aligned, but makes for a catch point when trying to remove the strap from the attachment. Struggled to get the gate opened and the clip off the attachment when the straps needed to be disconnected. There is very limited space to get the strong gate opened and the clip off. I know a better design could be made for this.

After returning from six days of fishing in Baja, I can confidently say this bag is a must-have for any traveling angler. It held all my clothes and gear—rods, reels, rain gear (including bibs), flies, extra lines, leader material, etc— for the week while the movable dividers kept everything organized and secured during travel. If you end up checking the bag like I did, the backpack straps tuck away perfectly inside the back compartment and it held up great against luggage handlers plus a couple of six-hour shuttles. I’m excited to see where I take it for our next adventures.

Very durable and large enough for a lot of gear to go in and still protect the rods. The top plastic is bowed inward limiting the amount of room available in the top but still a top notch rod/reel case.

High quality product with solid construction. It is a 3-day bag at best for tropical or wet wading travel. You could get a few 4 piece rods plus light weight clothes into this. You aren't getting wading boots and waders into this with clothes and rods however. It doesn't meet United criteria for carry-on either. I gate checked it. I do like it and plan to use it a lot though under the right circumstances.
