I've been using rod vaults for years, but the RiverSmith 4-Banger River Quiver solved one of my biggest frustrations. My previous rod vault couldn't accommodate larger rods with tall stripping guides, which meant my 7-weights, streamer rods, and pike setups either wouldn't fit or required breaking everything down before transport.
With the 4-Banger, that's no longer an issue. I can keep multiple rods fully rigged and ready to fish, including my heavier setups, which saves a ton of time on the water. The convenience factor alone has been a game changer. Whether I'm bouncing between trout, streamer, and pike fishing or squeezing in a quick session after work, I can grab a rod and go.
The build quality is outstanding, it's easy to use, and it gives me confidence that my rods are protected during travel. If you're looking for a rod carrier that can handle modern fly rods with larger stripping guides and want the convenience of keeping everything pre-rigged, the RiverSmith 4-Banger is absolutely worth it.
RiverSmith continues the legacy of building products, that once you use them, it leaves you wondering how you went without it for so long.
Sure, I can fish without using a rod wrap- but it just makes the day that much better!
I can keep rods protected and completely rigged to use.
The lengths adjust easily and they are 100% compatible with the River Quiver rod rack!
Nice going RiverSmith.
Easily installed with snug fit; adding peace of mind for long road trip. thanks Riversmith
A must if your rigs are broken down into two sections for transporting in a rod vault.
Keeps your rods fairly protected but keeps them tangle free. A simple idea but works great.
Easy to install, looks great, fast shipping, would recommend to anyone. Can’t go wrong with RiverSmith products. Thank you .
So far, love the quality of the ShortCut. Going to use it next month on our trip to Montana. Only suggestion would be - have the pads already installed. Kind of a pain to put them in neatly. All in all, very happy and I’m sure they’ll do a good job of keeping my roofs safe.
The thought of a rod vault attached to my topper ( and adding crossbars) on my f350 would ultimately require a step ladder just to reach my rigs.
The bed mounted river quiver checked off all the boxes.
Its discreet, out of view and a snap to install with Ford's box link system.
Absolutely perfect for my needs and truck.
The Rig Wrap does obviously better protect the rod in my Quiver. My negative experience was that one of the two flies on a rigged rod with the line tight on the hook keeper got hooked in the mesh material. I’ve since resorted to putting chunks of foam on my hooks when using the sleeves because undoing the hook was a major headache.
David, thanks for the honest feedback. There's an easy fix that eliminates this entirely: hook each fly through a rod guide rather than the hook keeper. With the points facing the blank, none of them will make contact with the mesh. The foam chunks work too, but the guide method gets you there without any extra steps.
Appreciate you taking the time to leave the review.
Excellent upgrade for the original rod chairs. Easier to install and more convenient for transport.
The sleeves are an excellent addition to the rack. I had bought some of your competitors sleeves, but they weren’t the quality of yours and they weren’t as long as yours. Great job.
I received the wraps for my river quiver a couple of weeks ago and immediately installed them .I finally made it fishing and pulled my rod out completely set up and free of tangles what a difference the wraps made ,I recommend them wholeheartedly
Hi Louis,
I’m sorry to hear you ended up with the wrong Rig Wrap for your setup.
I did want to clarify that the product purchased was specifically the “Rig Wrap: Fly Rod Sleeve - ShortCut - For Rods up to 10’4” (in Half)” version. That designation appears on the product page, in the cart, and again during checkout. The ShortCut version is built specifically for folded rod setups used with the ShortCut River Quiver configuration.
We did have a brief period where certain standard-length versions were temporarily sold out due to demand, but the selected model was still chosen during checkout.
If there had been any confusion on fitment or model selection, our team would have been happy to help before or after delivery, and we also offer free exchanges specifically for situations like this.
To make things easy, I already went ahead and started the exchange on your behalf so you can get the correct Rig Wrap for your setup. There will be no cost to you whatsoever for the exchange, including return shipping.
You should receive the exchange details shortly.

Love the unit so far, but I just bought it. I more wanted to comment on the customer service at Riversmith. Stopped by for a bit of help with mounting on the back of my van and a Euro rod that was just a bit too long. Rick took a look and figured out the solutions.
Don’t buy if you are a Ram owner no real good place to mount. Also mounting brackets don’t have enough support, need to be heavier gauge. Riversmith, especially the 4banger is going to wobble up and down on the rod and eventually fall off. Disappointed!!!
Hey there, really sorry to hear you’re frustrated with the setup.
The Ram beds, especially with newer 5th wheel plug locations and bed utility layouts, can definitely be one of the more challenging truck platforms for a Truck Bed River Quiver install. Most Ram owners running a 4-Banger end up using a bed rail or T-track system so the three mounting points can be positioned correctly around the plug and bedside geometry.
On the mount strength side, the brackets themselves are not the weak point and should not wobble or flex excessively when installed correctly with three properly spaced mounts. The 4-Banger is a large system, so if there’s movement, it’s usually related to mount spacing, unsupported sections, loose hardware, thin bedside attachment points, or the truck bed itself flexing independently from the mounts.
We’d honestly like to help troubleshoot your setup directly because a properly installed 4-Banger should not be in danger of “falling off” during normal use or travel.
If you’re open to it, send a few photos of the current install to info@riversmith.com and we’ll work through it with you directly.

Fit and work great. Just place all the pieces first, then just remove the backing paper and stick. Protection for the investment in reels and rods. Keeps them snugg as a bug in the rug.
Honestly, I wouldn't buy again. 2nd in a row where the finish came off and what a pain to return. Cool product, but the quality just isn't there.
Hi David, we’re sorry you experienced this issue with your River Quiver.
While finish failures like this are extremely uncommon across the thousands of units out in the wild, we understand how frustrating it is when it happens to your gear. We’ve already opened a warranty claim and sent over a return label so we can replace the affected parts and get you back up and running as quickly as possible.
We appreciate the feedback and the opportunity to get this taken care of.

This is a top of the line rod carrier. I used to have 2 original Rod Vaults since 2012. Now I have 4 banger River Quiver. It took about an hour to assemble it. I was able to get the front end under rack support so both sections are supported. The padding kit was a bonuses, since I have to drive on washboard dirt roads for a few of our guiding venues. Happy with it so far. We'll see how it goes during the season this year. I like the 4 banger because I often guide 3 angler's and I carry an extra rigged rod with me to be able to switch out quickly, so clients aren't sitting there watching me re rig. 4 rod rod carrier is perfect. Thank you Riversmith! Glad I ordered when I did because they were almost out.
Been looking forward to putting one of these on for a while now. Assembly and installation was simple enough. One fishing trip in and working looking/great!
Hi Nathan,
Thanks again for the photos and feedback.
The damage shown in the pictures is caused by the mounts being over-tightened past their intended stopping point. The stainless nut underneath has been pulled through the platform from excessive force after the mount was already fully seated.
The Quick Release Mounts are designed to be tightened by hand only until secure and parallel with the extrusion. Continuing to rotate beyond that point will damage the platform, which is why both the printed install guide and the installation video specifically call out “DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN OR DAMAGE MAY OCCUR.”
The install guide included with the mounts covers this in Step 5, and the installation video also highlights it directly at the 3:08 mark.
We’re still happy to help get you back up and running. Replacement platforms are available, and we can get those headed your way if needed.

I just got my Short Cut River Quiver 4 banger the other day.... I added the 12" River Quiver Extension kit to it for rods up to 12'4". It works Great! It does cut down on time rigging rods and now I don't have rods all over in the cab of my truck. With the T-Trac mount it fits perfectly under my rooftop tent rack, and is very low profile. Seems to be pretty good quality for the price. I don't know why I waited so long to buy this. I did have to locate and drill holes to fit the extension kit since I didn't buy them in the same purchase. I'm sure if you talk to River Smith they could drill them for you. Anyways it fit great and works wonderfully!
